Usage of Social Media

Today, ELT students discussed a topic that is related to our lives. We talked about our experiences and expectations about these platforms and how they may sometimes bring us down. Here is a sum of some things we mentioned:

"Almost all of use have at least one, if not more, social media apps today that enables us to communicate with people all around the world and learn about the news straight away. When everybody is able to reach out and communicate so fast, why is it that today the society is more corrupt and divided than ever?

Social media, just like anything else, come with ups and downs. It's almost part and parcel for every human being to have a source that can help them update their friends on their lives, recent changes etc etc.

When people do not use those apps, we suddenly alienate them and pretend they do not have lives. We think everything is supposed to be a certain way in our society...

People spend so much time trying to get the best picture to upload on instagram.

The chemical called dopamine is released through our bodies when we use social media, just like gambling, doing drugs and using alcohol."
